  • John V. Mesh

John was born August 8, 1976, to Michael Joseph and Barbara (Taylor) Mesh.  John was one of eight children in the Mesh Family.  John attended Grade School at Holy Cross in Old Northeast and attended St. Mary's High School in Independence, MO.

In 1999 John married the love of his life Felicia (Mara) Mesh, and they had four daughters, Adriana Nichole, Alyssa Marie, Alexandria Jolynn and Alicia Lynette.

John was everything to his family and they were the most important to him.  He was extremely proud of his daughters and very active in all of their sports, functions and events.  John was an avid hunter and was passing this tradition to his daughters.

In 2002, John became a member of the Kansas City, MO Fire Department and served as a Firefighter and EMT.  John was very passionate about his career and he enjoyed serving his community.  John was a member of Pumper 10, which is located at 1505 E. 9th Street in the Old Northeast part of town.

On the evening of October 12, 2015, John and his fellow crew members were battling a 2 Alarm Blaze at an apartment building over commercial shops located at 2608 Independence Ave in Old Northeast.  Tragically John V. Mesh and fellow firefighter FAO Larry Leggio died in the line of duty as a result of their injuries that they sustained when an exterior wall collapsed upon them and other firefighters.
